Story
The Sirte Free Zone was established to support economic development efforts in Libya and create a suitable environment to attract investments, by taking advantage of its geographical location on the Libyan coast in the central Mediterranean Sea.
The zone is gradually developing its infrastructure, and its plans include the establishment of service and logistics facilities to support future commercial and industrial activities.
The Free Zone aims to provide a clear working environment, with flexible regulatory procedures, tax and customs exemptions within the approved legal framework, which contributes to encouraging sustainable projects and enhancing partnership opportunities locally and internationally.

Sirte Free Zone welcomes shipping agents to route their commercial vessels to the Port of Sirte, which has started receiving containers and general cargo within initial operational facilities. Pilotage, linkage and unloading services are available at the port, as well as storage spaces close to the docks, which allows flexibility in handling and the entry of goods to the Libyan market or to transit destinations south.

The department provides a single window for registering companies and granting commercial and investment licenses, making it easier for investors to start their activities within the zone. The procedures are carried out in cooperation with the relevant government entities, while reducing bureaucratic aspects and providing legal and administrative support to new investors.

The Sirte Free Zone connects the Libyan coast to the southern border via a land transport hub that extends to areas such as Ouig and Sabha, providing logistics for transiting land freight to Niger and Chad. Work is underway to develop these routes to ensure the flow of goods and facilitate trade with the African mainland.
