Sirte Free Zone was established to support Libya's economic development efforts and create a suitable environment to attract investments, by leveraging its geographical location on the Libyan coast in the middle of the Mediterranean Sea.
The zone is progressively developing its infrastructure, and its plans include the establishment of service and logistics facilities to support future commercial and industrial activities.
The Free Zone aims to provide a clear work environment, with flexible regulatory procedures, tax and customs exemptions within the approved legal framework, in a way that contributes to encouraging sustainable projects and enhancing partnership opportunities locally and internationally.

An achievement that is progressing… And a vision is coming true
Vessel Reception Container Unloading
Sirte Free Zone welcomes shipping agents to direct their commercial vessels to the Port of Sirte, which has started receiving containers and general cargo within initial operational facilities. The port provides guidance, linkage, and unloading services, as well as storage spaces close to the docks, allowing flexibility in handling and the entry of goods into the Libyan market or to transit destinations to the south.
Licensing Commercial Registration Services
The Department provides a single window for registering companies and granting trade and investment licenses, making it easier for investors to start their activities within the region. The procedures are carried out in cooperation with the relevant government agencies, while reducing bureaucracy and providing legal and administrative support to new investors.
Logistics support through internal axes
The Sirte Free Zone connects the Libyan coast to the southern border via a land transport hub that extends to areas such as El Weig and Sabha, providing logistics for land freight transit to Niger and Chad. Work is underway to develop these routes to ensure the flow of goods and facilitate trade with the African mainland.
