Director General on an inspection visit to Sirte Free Zone
As part of the continuous field follow-up of the facilities and projects of the Sirte Free Zone, the Director General, Dr. Mahmoud Al-Ferjani, paid an inspection visit to the Sirte Free Zone, which included the port of the Free Zone and a number of work sites within the zone.
During the visit, he was briefed on the progress of the works inside the Sirte Free Zone Port Basin, in addition to following up on the ongoing works on the 570-meter-long Southern Container Handling Project, where about 455 meters of underwater concrete blocks were installed using cranes with a lifting capacity of up to 900 tons and the participation of specialized diving teams.
Nearly 300 meters of concrete slabs designed to withstand high operational loads were also carried out, in parallel with the continuation of backfilling works between the works in preparation for the implementation of reinforced concrete slabs, with work continuing at an accelerated pace and 24 hours a day according to the highest quality and safety standards.
The visit also included the administrative buildings being implemented within the Sirte Free Zone, in addition to the buildings that have been completed, within the framework of completing the administrative and service infrastructure of the zone.
Sirte Free Zone is one of the strategic economic projects in Libya, due to its privileged location that makes it the gateway to the sea and the desert, which enhances its role as an important logistics center that connects the movement of maritime trade with the geographical depth towards the Libyan interior and the African continent.
