As part of the construction efforts to enhance the infrastructure of the Port of Sirte Free Zone (SFZ), construction work on the southern pier of the port is continuing at an accelerated pace, achieving tangible progress in its various construction phases.
The subsidiary of the National Development Authority has so far lowered about 72% of the concrete blocks allocated for the southern pier, in a step that is a positive indication of the acceleration of the pace of work, and has also started the implementation of the work of the rams, where the first important work for the pavement has been poured, and work is currently underway to complete the rest of the rams successively.
In a related context, 25% of the important piles behind the southern pier have been completed, which is a significant progress in this technical aspect of the project.
The southern pier is one of the most important strategic berths in the port of the free zone – Sirte, as it is expected to contribute directly to enhancing the port’s operational capabilities and raising its efficiency in receiving ships and handling goods, which reflects the great importance of these works in supporting the local and regional economy, especially the countries of Niger, Chad and Mali.
